About The Stained Glass Studio

The Stained Glass Store was established in 1984 and co-founded by Alan McDermott and Marty Grund. Both were employed in the stained glass business since the mid 1970’s. Together they have nearly 60 years experience with nearly 10,000 commissions in their history.

Alan McDermott, the chief artist, has won several awards for his design in the craft. Alan won the Boulder Stained Glass exposition in 1981, Port Con in San Diego California and due to his stellar design at Faith Lutheran Church in Des Moines Iowa, the AIA Excellence in craft award in 2004.

The Stained Glass Stores craftsman love what they do and have been involved with elite projects, such as the Iowa State capitol, Iowa’s only castle, The Salisbury House, Grinnell college’s Herrick Chapel and many other prestigious projects around the United States.
